Jereen Ignatius

Mia

Jereen is a Canadian actress who received training from reputable acting institutes in North America including the Tom Todoroff Conservatory, Actors Foundry, and LB Acting Studio. She is professionally trained in Indian classical martial arts and contemporary dance. Jereen explores storytelling through solo theatrical pieces based on short stories, and has worked with several established theatre personalities internationally, as well as played major roles in international films. As an actor, Jereen continues to spotlight stories that tackle societal issues, whether on stage or behind camera.

Anthony

Anthony Diaz (stage named Anthony DiHi) is a Latino-Canadian up-and-coming actor. With previous acting training and a passion for the craft, he has had the opportunity to work on various projects ranging from commercials, episodic web series and on independent films. He Studied at York University Completing his BFA with Honours in the Cinema and Media Arts program.

Osawa Muskwa

Carl

Osawa Muskwa is a musician, artist, and actor based in Toronto. He has worked previously with director Tom Martha as Avery in his short film chorus and has enjoyed working on another project together. In his spare time Osawa Muskwa enjoys working out and taking his dog Chun li on adventures. A film he stars in, "World Ends at Camp Z"  just released on apple tv to glowing reviews.

Tommy Murtha

Tommy Murtha is an emerging writer-director, living in the Toronto area. Cultivation of A Killer (2022) is the second short film he has directed and the first he has written. Previously he directed the short film Chorus (2022).

Finn Johnston

PRODUCER

Finn Johnston is a student at Humber College in the Film and Television Production advanced diploma program and is in her fourth year. Originally from Ottawa, Finn has been working on films since high school and now considers Toronto home. With 9 other short films to her credit, this is Finn’s second time working as a Producer and she had a blast on set. When Finn isn’t working on productions, she enjoys exploring the city, listening to music, and of course, watching movies. In the future she hopes to become an Assistant Director and continue to pursue her passion for film.

Anna Di Giovanni

Director of Photography

Anna was more than excited to work as the Cinematographer for Cultivation of a Killer. There was so much opportunity presented with the script and story to tell a visual story. Working with this crew was a dream for Anna, everyone was so talented and worked amazingly together. Anna has a passion for both Directing and Cinematography. She hopes to use the skills she learned amongst her peers in her upcoming directorial debut 'Meter's Running'.

Debayudh Joardar

Editor

Debayudh Joardar is a third-year student at Humber College's in Film and Television Production program. He previously completed a video design and production program at George Brown College. He is working hard to earn his place in the film industry. He has worked on the student documentary Redundancies as the Editor, and also worked on the short student film Private Eye and Apple Pie as the Gaffer. Recently, he has worked on the short student film Bring Home the Rain as the Boom Operator, Assistant editor on a short student film I Wanna Be Famous and Higher Governance. He is also the Editor for Cultivation of a Killer. In his free time, Debayudh enjoys watching TV shows and Movies.

Alyssah Richards

1st Assistant Director

Alyssah is a 22 year old filmmaker in their final year at Humber College. Storytelling has always been a passion of theirs, and they hope to bring more diversity into the film industry over the course of their career.

Selena MacKay

Production Designer

Selena MacKay is the Production Designer for Cultivation of a Killer. From Perth, Ontario, Selena is a student in their third and final at Humber College, studying Film Production, and majoring in Production Design and Post Picture. In 2019, they produced the documentary The Holocaust: A Love Story, which has its long-awaited premier at Lakeshorts International Film Festival this April, and has designed other short films such as Albatross, and the upcoming short film Across Rivers and Lakes. They hope to continue to build their career as a production designer and continue to be able to shape the world our stories are a part of.

Kaitlyn McKale

Production Manager

Kaitlyn McKale is an emerging producer from Ottawa, Ontario where she now resides in Toronto, Ontario. She got her start into filmmaking at Algonquin College where she made her first film. Upon entering film school at Humber College, she naturally gravitated towards producing. Through her producing work she aims to help tell stories that are insightful and engaging. She will collaborate with anyone who has a special story to tell.  Her most recent work consists of Cultivation of a Kill (2022) as production manager, I Wanna Be Famous (2022) as costume designer/ art assistant, and Private Eye & Apple Pie (2021) as producer.

Camera Operator

Jack Zinner is a third year film student focusing on cinematography and post picture editing. His key role on this film was as camera operator.

Bea Dator

Casting Director

Bea Dator is an aspiring producer currently based in Toronto, Canada. Born and raised in the Philippines, Bea has always been passionate about film, she started out as a child actor and later realized that she loved working behind the camera as much as she loved being in front of it. Her current work includes, Forgive Me Father, Bad Guys, and Ramparts (Post-Production). Bea is currently a Humber College student, but hopes to one day work as a producer for a major film production company.

Stefan Watson

1st Assistant Camera

Stefan Watson is a third year student at Humber College’s Film & Television production program. Over the years at school, Stefan has worked on many projects as a cinematographer, such as “Anywhere But Here” “W.I.F.T” and “Cultivation of a Killer”. Stefan wishes to pursue this career once leaving Humber, in hopes of joining a camera union for film and television. In his free time, Stefan enjoys playing the piano, playing video games and spending time with family and friends.

Ahmet Boyanci

Following a career in business, Ahmet Boyanci settled in Canada in 2018. A soon to be graduate of Humber's Film & Television Production Program, he is seeking opportunities to work in camera and lighting. He created boyanciimage as a trademark for promoting his artistic and commercial photographs, showreels, documentaries and short films.

Joseph Lazatin

Assistant Editor

Joseph Lazatin is a 3rd year student of Humber’s Film and TV Production Program where he majors in post-picture and post-audio. Joseph is an aspiring editor with the goal of working in the post-production industry. He is the Assistant Editor for Cultivation of a Killer where he ingested, transcoded, and synced media. Along with building a rushes reel, he also worked closely with Tom and Debayudh during the editing process.

Sam Castellano

Key Grip

Helping out the DoP in any way possible in order to keep crew and schedule satisfied, Sam has pushed himself through cold weather and hard work to ensure the lighting and shots for Cultivation of a Killer came out clean. Doing VFX work through a title sequence and fixing up some unwanted mistakes allow for a clean finish as well.

Robin Welsford

Art Director

Robin Welsford is a Toronto-based filmmaker, who is an aspiring Production Designer. Robin has worked on various Humber College films as the Production Designer. Her most notable work being Chorus, Anodyne, and Meters Running. After graduating Humber College Robin hopes to become a DGC member in the art department.

Sebastian Glassco

Boom Operator

Sebastian Glassco (Boom Op, Composer) has been a fan of film and filmmaking since an early age. Now focused on sound design and in his final semester in the Film and Television program, he looks to the future with uncertain optimism. His other love is music, both in composing and songwriting. Other hobbies include writing, photography, and building the occasional gunpla model kit.

Derek Murril

Location Sound Recordist

Derek Murril is the location sound mixer on Cultivation of a Killer. Derek is an experienced recordist and has experience in all areas of the sound department. These include post sound editor, boom operator, ADR/ Foley recordist, and post mixer.

Emma Clarke

Digital Imaging Technician (DIT)

Emma Clarke is an aspiring editor and colourist who is happy to have been the DIT and colourist for Cultivation of a Killer. Being a part of the team on production and post was a pleasure as there is nothing more interesting to her than telling a good story. After editing Youtube videos, a sports documentary, and a few promotional trailers, she is excited to add this dramatic short to her ever growing filmography.

Jake Gibbons

Gaffer

Jake Gibbons is an aspiring filmmaker and special effects artist. He sees a future in working on small scale indie films where there are fewer limits to creativity and the freedom for more “intense” content. He is self taught in skills of make-up, prop making, in-camera special effects, and costume design. In addition, Jake has previous experience in welding and fabrication. His specialties are in the action and horror genres, where he hopes to create his own one of a kind imagery and creations which he hopes will define his own artistic style.

Craft Services

Hannah Clare Rose is a filmmaker and student in her final year of the Film and Television Program at Humber College. Hannah has always been drawn to stories about those who are marginalized and misunderstood--she loves to help share these stories in any role she can. As caterer on Cultivation of a Killer, Hannah made sure both the cast and crew got the fuel that they needed to make this a project to be proud of.

Elliot Stickle

Finishing Supervisor

Elliot is a cinematographer raised in Ottawa, Ontario. Photography and film have inspired his desire to create cinematic works with a meaningful impact and show the power that is held by what can be captured. Working with cameras encompasses what Elliot loves to do and experience. This has brought him to hone his eye for images on projects like working with artists and music festivals, promotional videos, curating content for brands, weddings, music videos and collaborating on short films. In 2021, Elliot was proudly the recipient of the Edmund Long CSC Memorial Award for a student displaying the highest degree of ability in cinematography. Recent cinematography works include Albatross (2021), Pretty Good To Be Here (2021) and Private Eye & Apple Pie (2021). We will see Elliot’s work on an upcoming short film, Anodyne, where he is excited to continue his journey in filmmaking, photography and telling stories cinematically.

Harrison Smith

Harrison Smith is the 2nd Sound Editor for Cultivation of A Killer. Initially being passionate only about Picture Editing coming into the program, Harrison found himself being passionate about sound both on-location and in post-production. On the side he enjoys reffing hockey games and being involved with Humber's Esports department as a videographer. He also loves Justin McMann

David Nguyen

Colourist

David Nguyen is a Toronto-based filmmaker and creator with a background in the earth and environmental sciences. Currently studying at Humber College, his projects include picture editing the Humber College dramas "Chorus" and "He, Who Loves Me," as well as production roles in camera and sound departments. His latest project is taking the reins as director on a series of interstitials for the graduation screening for Humber's 2022 Film and TV Production graduating class.

Justin McMann

Re-Recording Mixer

Justin McMann is a 3rd student in Humber College's Film and Television Production program where he specializes in Post Sound and Scriptwriting. Recently, he is currently working on the PSA's "Crafting for a Cure" & "Arquives" as Post sound, the short film "He, Who Loves Me" as the ADR & Foley assistant and the film's Re-Recording Mixer. He recently wrapped production as the Location Sound Recordist for the Portfolio project "In Cold Blood" and also serves as one of the Writer's & Creator's of the project while also serving as the film's Dialogue editor & Re-Recording Mixer.

Kiara is an aspiring producer from Cambridge Ontario her first documentary “Look up” has been screened multiple times in New York. Kiara has also made her art director debut with the short horror film “Where Shadows Lie”, She hopes to continue to be a Production Manager and work toward Producing documentaries.
